Over 500 construction professionals have now registered to access CheckPlan.co.uk. BT Northern Ireland's online service for construction companies to request information regarding the location of underground plant from Public Utilities prior to excavating, is an ongoing success story.

This service allows access to information documenting the location of BTNI underground plant throughout Northern Ireland. Having quick and efficient access to information of this type reduces the likelihood of accidental damage to BTNI assets and therefore reduces any subsequent disruption to services, and in the long term saves the high cost of repair. Using CheckPlan, BT has taken steps to work with the Construction Sector to avoid these emergency situations and unnecessary costs.

CheckPlan is accessed via a website managed by Foyle Technologies Ltd. at www.checkplan.co.uk. The service which was launched fully at the start of July 2004 has given BTNI a marked improvement in their ability to respond quickly and efficiently to requests for information coming from the Construction Sector while contractors, architects and others in the sector now have a free and efficient method of obtaining the information they need.
